American Legion

The Rolland Braley Post # 1713 was chartered October 17, 1952 at Newcomb, NY

The Legion Post activities are as follows:

• Americanism Award at Newcomb Central School graduation
• Placement of flags on graves of veterans on Memorial Day (Annually)
• Sponsorship of American Legion Boys State participant
• Annual Poppy Sales

The Post has received many Post Membership Achievement Citations over the years with the most recent being 1998. The Post has also received the Annual Americanism Citation for outstanding service to the community a number of times and the annual Children and Youth Citation for outstanding achievement in the programs for children and youth.

Representatives of the Post regularly attend County Legion meetings and a respresentative of the Post attends the State Convention each year.
