Newcomb is a 4-season playground, with snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing in the winter months, hiking, biking, and fishing in the spring, summer and fall, as well as camping, swimming, canoeing and kayaking during the sunny summer months.

2018 Loon Race 

Saturday, July 14th

With activities for everyone in the family, all are welcome to discover the natural and cultural history of the Adirondacks through hands-on, nature-based programming and events. 

10:00 am Northern Forest Nature Walk

Learn about the history of logging on the Huntington Wildlife Forest as we visit the site of an old log boom. We will learn what types of trees that were harvested in the area and the fate of these logs as they traveled from Rich Lake, down the Hudson River, to the paper mills below.

2:00 pm Artist in Residence Demonstration

Our Artist in Residence, will be demonstrating and aspect of their art in the lobby of the AIC. 

3:00 pm Annual Rubber Loon Race 

Release the Loons! The only race of its kind, our custom designed and made in America loons tumble into Rich Lake outlet and race 400 yards to the finish line. Prizes donated from local businesses will be awarded to the first four loon s across the line.
